Firms with expired contracts still running toll plazas

Firms with expired contracts are still running their toll plazas under the Road and Highways Department (RHD).

These firms were awarded with leases under the regime of previous government and now at least five of those are illegally operating their leases exceeding their contract tenure.

Even though the RHD floated fresh tenders last year to appoint new companies for these toll plazas, the tenders have not been opened in over eight months, for reasons yet to be disclosed, according to sources reports UNB.
