National Bank faces loss of Tk985cr in H1

National Bank incurred a loss of Tk985 crore in the first half of this year.
According to the bank’s price sensitive statement filed on the Dhaka Stock Exchange, its loss was 54 per cent higher from the previous year at the same time.
At the end of June this year, its consolidated loss per share stood at Tk3.06.
The bank said in its report that, it incurred loss mainly due to the bank could not book interest on loan and advances due to non-recovery from defaulters.
Furthermore, the bank incurred higher interest expenses on deposits and borrowings.
