BNP observes mourning day in Joypurhat in memory of Milestone College students

The district BNP has observed a day of mourning as part of its central programme over the death of a Milestone College student in a training plane crash in Joypurhat. A mourning programme was observed at the party office on Station Road in the city on Tuesday morning with the national and party flags flying at half-mast. A minute of silence and a prayer mahfil were held in memory of the deceased.

At the time, the event was presided over by District BNP Convener Golzar Hossain, and was addressed by the party’s senior joint convener Masud Rana Pradhan, joint convener MA Wahab, District Motor Workers Union General Secretary Ummat Ali Himmat, District Women’s Party President Parveen Banu Ruli, and District Krishak Dal Member Secretary Manjur A Maula Palash, among other leaders.

The leaders said the accident was a tragedy for the nation. They demanded that those responsible be identified and action taken after an investigation.

Incidentally, a training plane crashed into the Milestone School and College building in Uttara, Dhaka, after 1 pm on Monday (July 21). The building and the plane immediately caught fire. Many students were injured in the accident. The injured were rescued and taken to the hospital in a joint operation by the Fire Service, Army and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
