Western Marine Shipyard Ltd, Bangladesh’s leading export-oriented shipbuilder, has delivered a high-powered tugboat to a UAE-based buyer, while another is scheduled for export later this month.
The delivery ceremony was held at Chittagong Boat Club on Thursday, attended by Lt. Gen (Retd) Abdul Hafiz, Adviser and Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser for Defence and National Solidarity Development, as the chief guest.
Humaid Mohammed Abdulla DarwishAlTamimi, Chargé d’Affaires of the UAE Embassy in Dhaka, and Khalid Almarzooqi, Vice President of International Business Development at Khalifa Economic Zones, Abu Dhabi, were present as special guests.
The newly delivered vessel is part of an eight-ship order signed in 2023 with UAE-based Marwan Shipping Ltd. The vessels included two tugboats, four landing crafts, and two oil tankers, sources said.
