Parshuram flood triggers terrible humanitarian disaster
Feni Correspondent :
Disaster and Relief Adviser Faruk E Azam (Bir Pratik) visited the flood-affected areas in Feni.
Although the visit mentioned visiting three upazilas of Feni district, he visited the flood-affected areas in Fulgazi and Chagalnaiya upazilas and returned to the Circuit House around 12 o’clock.
Although the advisor’s tour schedule signed by Lt. Col. (Retd.) Md. Abdul Gaffar, Private Secretary to the Advisor (Joint Secretary) in the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief on July 11, mentioned visiting the flood-affected areas in Parshuram upazila, he canceled the program to visit the flood-affected areas in Parshuram due to knee-deep water on the road in the Ghania Mora area of the Parshuram section of the Feni Parshuram road and drove to Chagal Laiyar.
It is learned that Disaster and Relief Advisor Faruk-e-Azam (Bir Pratik) visited the flood-affected areas of Darbarpur in Fulgazi Upazila and Sreepur in Fulgazi at 10 am on Saturday (July 12) and spoke to the residents of the shelter centers and inquired about them.
Earlier, on Friday (July 11), an emergency meeting of the District Disaster Management Committee was held at Feni Circuit House around 9:30 pm.
It is worth noting that last Tuesday, due to continuous rains and the pressure of water from the Indian hills, the embankments of the Muhuri, Kuhua and Silonia rivers in Parshuram broke at 12 places, flooding more than 25 villages, causing a terrible humanitarian disaster. People’s homes, roads and various infrastructure including bridge culverts were damaged.
Electricity and internet connections were cut off in several areas. Due to waist-deep water on the Feni and Parshuram roads, all types of road communication were stopped, resulting in Parashuram being isolated.
