Mother’s fake bomb threat halts flight to stop son’s affair

NN Online:
In a bizarre real-life drama, a mother’s attempt to sabotage her son’s extramarital trip led to a fake bomb threat that grounded a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight and triggered a three-hour emergency operation.

The incident occurred on Saturday when Flight BG-373, en route from Dhaka to Kathmandu, was forced to make an emergency landing after air traffic control received an anonymous bomb threat.

Security personnel thoroughly searched the aircraft but found no explosives. The real twist? The call was traced back to the passenger’s mother, who allegedly wanted to prevent her son from traveling with his lover.

At a press briefing in Karwan Bazar, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General Additional IGP AKM Shahidur Rahman confirmed the arrest of three individuals involved in the incident, which stemmed from a family conflict.

“The man had planned a romantic trip to Kathmandu with his former lover. When his wife and mother found out—through a friend of the son—the mother decided to intervene by calling in a bomb threat,” said Rahman.

RAB swiftly identified and arrested those involved, bringing an end to what has now become a viral tale of family intervention, deception, and a thwarted escape.
