Masud-Ponti panel wins landslide victory in N’ganj Press Club election

The Masud-Ponti panel has secured a sweeping victory in the Narayanganj Press Club Executive Committee elections for the 2025-2027 term. The election commission officially announced the results on Friday evening.
Abu Saud Masud, Narayanganj district correspondent of the newspaper Amar Desh, has been elected President of the Press Club. Billal Hossain Robin, district correspondent for NTV and Manab Zamin, has been elected Vice President, while Afzal Hossain Ponti, district correspondent for Banglavision, has been elected General Secretary. The Joint Secretary posts have been won by Ahsan Sadik Shawon of Channel 24, Anisur Rahman Jewel of Maasranga Television, and Lutfor Rahman Kakon, staff reporter of Amader Shomoy.
Elected as executive members are Arif Alam Dipu, editor of the daily Shitalakkhya, senior journalist Mahfuzur Rahman, Rafiqul Islam Jibon of New Age, Abdus Salam of ATN News, and Pronob Krishna Roy of the daily Sangbad Bangladesher Mukhpotro.
Earlier in the day, the club’s biennial general meeting was held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Voting took place at the press club building from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Out of 79 registered voters, 76 cast their votes. Seven ballots were declared invalid.
After vote counting, Election Commission Chairman Probir Kumar Saha announced the official results.
The election was observed by Narayanganj District Superintendent of Police Pratyush Kumar Majumder and RAB-11 Battalion Commander Lt. Colonel A.H.M. Sajjad Hossain. Officials from the National Security Intelligence (NSI), the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), and senior police officers were also present.
