CPC invites Tarique Rahman to visit China

The Communist Party of China (CPC) has formally invited BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to visit China at a mutually convenient time.

The invitation was extended by Li Hongzhong, a member of the CPC Central Committee Politburo and Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, during a meeting with a high-level BNP delegation in Beijing on Monday. The delegation was led by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, confirmed party media cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan.

The meeting took place at the Great Hall of the People, where Li Hongzhong and senior CPC leaders welcomed the BNP team and discussed bilateral and party-level cooperation.

“Li Hongzhong officially invited BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to visit China in the future,” Sayrul stated.

The CPC leadership expressed hope that the dialogue would mark the beginning of a new phase in China-Bangladesh relations. They also emphasized the importance of regular dialogue and sustained cooperation between the CPC and the BNP.

During the meeting, Mirza Fakhrul praised China’s regional leadership and expressed optimism that the country would continue to promote inclusive development through expanded multilateral engagement.

Earlier in the day, the BNP delegation visited the headquarters of China Railway Group Limited, where they were briefed on China’s infrastructure development achievements and ongoing projects.

The visit is being interpreted as a significant step toward strengthening political engagement between the CPC and the BNP, with both parties signaling intent for deeper future cooperation.

The nine-member BNP delegation, led by Fakhrul, departed Dhaka on Sunday night for a five-day visit to China at the CPC’s invitation. They arrived at Beijing Capital International Airport around 5:25 am (Beijing time) on Monday.

Other members of the delegation include BNP Standing Committee members Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, and Begum Selima Rahman; Chairperson’s Advisers Zahiruddin Swapan, Ismail Zabiullah, and Professor Sukomal Barua; party media cell convener Dr. Moudud Hossain Alamgir Pavel; and BNP Chairperson’s Personal Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar.
