Nat’l Reform Alliance demands 8-point to interim govt

The National Reform Alliance has submitted an eight-point demand to the interim government, urging immediate implementation. The demands are as follows: Immediate declaration of the July Charter, completion of reform initiatives, expedited judicial processes, holding local government elections before national parliamentary elections, the interim government must resign three months prior to the national election and hand over power to a caretaker government, providing advanced medical treatment and security to those injured in the July-August uprising and financial assistance to the families of those killed, simplification of the political party registration process and removing previous restrictions to allow all citizens the opportunity to run as independent candidates.
The meeting was presided over by Major (Retd.) Amin Ahmed Afsari, Convener of the National Reform Alliance. It was moderated by the alliance’s Member Secretary Md Abdur Rahim.
Ghulam Sarwar Milon, former state minister and Chairman of Jonotar Dal Bangladesh, Major General (Retd.) AMSA Amin, President of Naitik Shamaj, Shawkat Mahmud, Secretary General of Jonotar Party Bangladesh, Sheikh Salauddin Salu, Chairman of NPP, Professor A R Khan, Chief Coordinator of the National Reform Alliance, and Mohammad Abdul Ahad Noor, Executive Coordinator along with leaders from five coalitions and 35 political parties under the umbrella of the National Reform Alliance.
The demands were presented on Saturday at a discussion meeting organized by the National Reform Alliance at the National Press Club.
Calling upon the people of the country to step forward in support of the eight-point demand, alliance leaders said that they have strongly urged the government to implement our eight demands immediately; otherwise, we will be compelled to launch a tough movement against the government.
