NWCA-2025 goes to JU Prof Monwar

Professor Dr. Md Monwar Hossain of the Department of Zoology at Jahangirnagar University (JU) has been nominated for the prestigious National Wildlife Conservation Award (NWCA)-2025, recognising his exceptional contributions to wildlife conservation and research.

The nomination was officially confirmed in a press release issued on Thursday afternoon by Mohammad Mahiuddin, acting director of the JU Public Relations Office.
According to the statement, Prof Monwar has been selected for the award in the Wildlife Education and Research category.

The award is conferred by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change to honor individuals and institutions making impactful contributions in the field of wildlife protection in Bangladesh.

JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan extended his heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Monwar on this national recognition.

“We are proud and delighted that Prof Dr. Md Monwar Hossain has been nominated for this national honour,” he said in a statement.

He further praised Dr. Monwar’s dedication to wildlife studies, emphasizing that his groundbreaking work in conservation and academic research has greatly enhanced the reputation and academic stature of Jahangirnagar University.

The National Wildlife Conservation Award is one of the highest recognitions in the country for contributions to preserving biodiversity and promoting environmental awareness.
