Muggers drag woman with private car in city

A video of a woman being dragged away by a private car of muggers in the capital’s Siddheshwari area has gone viral.

Investigation revealed that the incident took place in front of Greenland Tower in Siddheshwari on Saturday morning. The woman survived the incident, but was seriously injured.

The kidnappers fled. Confirming the matter, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (media) Talebur Rahaman said they were inspecting the scene and that no case has been filed yet, but legal procedures were underway.

According to police, the victim, Farhana, is a teacher who works at a college in Chandra, Gazipur. She lives with her family in Siddheshwari, where the mugging took place.

In the video, the woman was seen standing by the roadside when a white car slowed down, and in a swift move, one of the people from inside grabbed her handbag.

As the car sped away, she was dragged along the road. The video has sparked outrage and raised concerns about public safety in broad daylight.
