National Desk :
A four-day training program on ‘Media and Digital Production Technique for Open and Distance Learning’, jointly organised by Commonwealth Educational Media Center for Asia (CEMCA), India and Bangladesh Open University (BOU), began on Monday at the Preview Theater of the Media Center at the university’s Gazipur campus.
The training program was inaugurated as the chief guest by Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam, Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University.
He said that digital production is currently playing an important role in the education sector. It is a product that is created in a completely digital format and can be easily distributed online. For example, e-books, online courses, software, templates and graphic design production, etc.
The biggest advantage of digital production techniques is that they can be created once and used countless times as needed. In the case of open and distance learning systems, it creates an opportunity to reach a large number of knowledge-hungry people at low cost. Digital production is also very important for developing personal skills.
By taking training on digital production techniques, participating teachers and officials will play a helpful role in reaching the desired goals of Bangladesh Open University by applying the practical knowledge acquired in their respective workplaces. The Vice Chancellor also expressed hope that such training workshops will open new doors in the implementation of BOU’s multifaceted education system.
The inaugural ceremony of the training program held under the chaired of BOU Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor SayeedFerdous was also addressed by BOU Treasurer Professor Dr. AbulHasnat Md. Shamim, Resource Person Director of Indira Gandhi National Open University EMPC, India Dr. Kumar Dharmendra Prasad and Producer of Indira Gandhi National Open University EMPC Dr. JatinderJitKour. Indira Gandhi National Open University EMPC Director Dr. Kumar Dharmendra Prasad said in his speech, we have to look at the investments we have and make them a complete product to serve the society in the future. So that is what I am looking for and then what is the concern in India, we talk about RTI with us. I am taking a cue from there, from where RTI came to India in 2005.
Now what I am going to say about bringing transparency in the society and RTI is, we are talking about radio, television and internet. What I am talking about radio, television and internet, these three are essential and ongoing for us. In order to maintain the pace of learning practice of students and then get a proper idea about how to see it, we have to take forward the open and distance learning education system.
He also expressed the opinion that the university’s educational services should be reached to the students through media and digital production techniques.
Sharif Md. Shahabuddin, Acting Director of the Media Department, expressed his opinion on the occasion. The program was moderated by Sohail Ahmed, Senior Video Specialist of the Media Department. 24 teachers from 6 schools of the university and 24 officials from the Media and Computer Department participated in this training program.
