Pak envoy meets info adviser

Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Syed Ahmed Maruf, met with Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Mahfuj Alam Wednesday at the Secretariat, expressing interest in boosting bilateral cooperation in the media sector.

According to an official press release, the Pakistani envoy proposed signing memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Pakistan Television (PTV), as well as between Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) and the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), reports BSS.

The proposed agreements aim to strengthen media exchange and promote mutual understanding through state-run broadcasting services.

During the meeting, Adviser Mahfuj Alam highlighted the importance of media diplomacy and discussed possibilities for broadcasting Bangladeshi television channels in Pakistan, a move that could foster cultural exchange and greater people-to-people contact.

Press Counselor of the Pakistan High Commission Fasiha Ullah and the Private Secretary to the Information Adviser, Syed Enamul Kabir, were also present at the meeting.
The engagement signals a renewed interest in media collaboration between the two South Asian neighbors.
