Titumir College students resume road blockade

NN Online:
Students from Dhaka’s Government Titumir College on Friday blocked the road for the second consecutive day outside their Mohakhali campus, calling for university status along with six additional demands.
Nayek Noor Mohammad, one of the protest leaders, told the media, “Today we will remain at the gate of Titumir. The road will be reopened shortly.”
Earlier, from Thursday afternoon until Friday morning, the protesters blocked the road, causing severe traffic congestion for residents in the surrounding areas. While the students cleared the road early Friday, a few continued their hunger strike. After the Friday prayers, their fellow students marched to the Mohakhali Amtoli area and resumed the road blockade.
The Traffic Gulshan Division of police said in a Facebook post at 3:30pm, “Like yesterday, students have begun blocking the road in front of Titumir College for some time. As a result, traffic is closed from the Mohakhali-Amtoli area to Gulshan-1 and from Gulshan-1 to Amtoli.”
The post urged drivers and passengers traveling from Banani-Kakoli to Jahangir Gate to utilise the flyover as an alternative route.
