46 BD expats back from Lebanon

Staff Reporter :

A total of 46 stranded Bangladeshi nationals were repatriated from war-torn Lebanon on Tuesday aboard Qatar Airways flight QR 640, with all expenses covered by the government.

The flight landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) at 9:15 AM, coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, the Embassy of Bangladesh in Beirut, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

This repatriation brings the total number of Bangladeshis returned from Lebanon to 1,292 across 20 flights.

Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, and IOM welcomed the returnees. IOM provided each person with TK 5,000 in pocket money, food supplies, and basic medical care.

The government has reaffirmed its commitment to covering repatriation costs for all Bangladeshis wishing to return due to the ongoing conflict.

Ministry officials engaged with the returnees to discuss their experiences and well-being. Tragically, one Bangladeshi has reportedly died in a bombing during the conflict.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Bangladesh in Beirut continue to work diligently to ensure the safe return of those opting for repatriation while safeguarding the interests of those choosing to stay in Lebanon.
