6 PSC members’ appointment cancelled

The Ministry of Public Administration has issued a notification canceling the appointment of six newly appointed members of the Public service Commission (PSC).

On Monday (January 13),This information was given in the notification signed by Abul Hayat Rafik ,Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration.

According to the notification, the appointment order of the following six members newly appointed to the Public service Commission has been cancelled.

The six members who cancelled the appointment are Sher Bangla Agricultural University professor Dr. Shahnaz Sarkar, Former Additional IG of Police Md Munir Hossain, Retired Brigadier General AF Jaglul Ahmed,

Former Director General of Beam Foundation Md. Mizanur Rahman, former foreign secretary Shabbir Ahmed Chowdhury and Professor Dr. Syeda Shahina Sobhan.

The order, issued with the approval of the President, will be implemented immediately, the notification said.

Earlier, on January 2, the government appointed these six members to the PSC. On January 9, their swearing-in was postponed on an urgent basis due to complaints against the other three appointed with them.

A PSC source said that the swearing-in of some of the newly appointed members was postponed due to criticism on social media. Some of the newly appointed members were criticised because they were close to the previous government.

Some students of Dhaka University also appealed to the Chief Justice,that’s why On January 9, their swearing-in was postponed due to criticism.

Now excluding these six people, the number of PSC members including the chairman stands at 9 people.
