Ex-army officer Azmi’s dismissal order revoked
Staff Reporter :
The dismissal order of former Brigadier General Abdullahil Amaan Azmi, son of the late Jamaat-e-Islami leader Professor Ghulam Azam, has been officially cancelled.
This announcement was made through a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate on Friday.
According to the press release, the prior dismissal order was annulled and replaced by a pardon granted on Tuesday.
Following this development, Brigadier General Azmi was retrospectively placed on “premature (compulsory) retirement,” effective from June 24, 2009.
This adjustment allows him to receive all financial entitlements and other benefits applicable under the new designation.
The press release also clarified that the Ministry of Defence’s earlier dismissal notification dated June 23, 2009, has been officially cancelled.
By revoking the dismissal and reclassifying his exit as compulsory retirement, the authorities have effectively altered the nature of his departure from service while reinstating his eligibility for associated benefits.
This move brings closure to a long-standing matter concerning Brigadier General Azmi’s military career and retirement status.
