Rangpur Division clinch NCL T20 title

Rangpur Division clinched the National Cricket League (NCL) T20 title after defeating Dhaka Metro by five wickets in a low-scoring final at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
Chasing Dhaka Metro’s paltry total of 62 off 16.3 overs, Rangpur Division romped home making 65 for the loss of five wickets when they had 52 balls to spare.
Rangpur faced an early debacle as they lost their early four wickets for 18 runs.
Then, Ariful Haque and Mohammad Enamul contributed together 24 runs before Ariful Haque was caught by Aliss Al Islam off Rakibul Hasan when Rangpur’s total was 42 for the loss of four wickets.
Ariful Haque hit 14. His 11-ball innings was studded with one four and one six.
After Ariful Haque’s dismissal, Tanvir Hayder and Mohammad Enamul helped their side to anchor the winning spot.
Mohammad Enamul remained unbeaten with 14 runs. He hit three fours in his nine-ball innings.
Tanvir Hayder remained unbeaten with eight runs.
Aliss Al Islam bagged two wickets at the cost of 13 runs, while Abu Hider and Rakibul Hasan took one wicket each for eight and 24 runs respectively.
Dhaka Metro lost their wickets in regular intervals. They failed to make any notable partnership.
Second-down Shamsur Rahman and sixth-down Abu Hider were the only two batters of Dhaka Metro who could reach the double digit figures.
Shamsur Rahman made 14 from 28 deliveries hitting two fours before he was caught by Akbar Ali off Rizwan Chowdhury when Dhaka Metro’s score was 33 for the loss of six wickets.
Abu Hider scored 13 from nine balls with two fours before he was run out by a joint-effort of Akbar Ali and Enamul Haque when Dhaka Metro’s total was 52 for the loss of eight wickets.
Mukidul Islam and Alauddin Babu played the key role in wrecking Dhaka’s innings grabbing three wickets each in the space of 12 runs each with a good support of Robiul Haque, Rizwan Chowdhury and Arif Ahmed, who picked up one wicket each for nine, 12 and 14 runs respectively.
Mukidul Islam was adjudged the Man of the Match, while Abu Hider was adjudged the Player of the Series.
