Adviser Sakhawat inspects Tamabil Land Port

Employment Adviser Dr. M. Sakhawat Hossain visited the Jaflong Tamabil Land Port in Gowainghat Upazila on Wednesday.

He called upon stakeholders, including importers and traders, to come forward to keep business and trade normal and increase government revenue.

He said that the interim government is making efforts to increase government revenue for the development of the country through keeping business and trade normal. He also urged all concerned, including importers and traders, to come forward to develop infrastructure and maintain a business-friendly environment at all land ports in Sylhet.

The adviser said that special measures have been taken for infrastructure development at Tamabil Land Port. Several infrastructure works will be implemented at Tamabil Land Port in the current year. He said all the problems of the importers and traders will be indentified in stages and assured of proper solutions.

He made these remarks at a meeting with local importers, businessmen, partners, and local journalists to resolve the impasse regarding the import of Indian stone and coal after visiting Tamabil Land Port on Wednesday afternoon, December 18, 2024.

After detailed discussions in the meeting, the Indian stone-laden truck entered Bangladesh. As a result, after a long 22-day closure, the import activities of Indian stone and coal at Tamabil land port have become normal. He stayed at the land port and observed the weighing activities of the Indian stone-laden truck.

During his visit to the land port, Shipping Advisor Brigadier General (Retd) Dr. M Sakhawat Hossain visited the historical Tamabil massacre site and paid tribute to the martyrs of the Great Liberation War of 1971.

Bangladesh Land Port Authority Chairman (Additional Secretary) Mohammad Manzarul Mannan, Gowainghat Upazila Executive Officer Touhidul Islam, Sylhet 48 BGB Commander Lt. Col. Hafizur Rahman, Gowainghat Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Saidul Islam, Officer (In-Charge) Sarkar Md. Tofail, Tamabil Customs Assistant Commissioner Gaurab Mahajan, Tamabil Land Port Authority Assistant Director Mostafizur Rahman, and Jaintapur Press Club President Nurul Islam were present on the occasion.
