MFA cadets will brighten country’s image discharging duties: Farida

Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter on Tuesday called upon the cadets of Marine Fisheries Academy (MFA) to brighten country’s image by discharging duties in their future workplaces.

“The key basis for progress in working life is hard work, punctuality, honesty, efficiency, values, and devotion to the country. By imbibing these values, I hope you (cadets) will brighten the image of the country through discharging duties in your future workplaces,” she said.

The adviser made the call while addressing passing out parade-2024 of the 43rd batch of cadets of the Marine Fisheries Academy, Chattogram, said a ministry press release here, reports BSS.

She said that the fisheries resources have immense importance in the national economy alongside meeting the food and nutritional needs of the country’s people, and employment generation.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock is always striving to upgrade this academy into a modern maritime educational institution by developing the necessary infrastructure, manpower, and training facilities, she added. The advisor mentioned the Bay of Bengal as a bastion of natural resources, which is constantly supplying a huge amount of fish resources to meet the needs of protein of the country’s people.

“Cadets have to play a leading role always in preserving the biodiversity and preventing environmental pollution of the Bay of Bengal as well as in the collection, conservation, marketing of fish resources,” she added.

This year, a total of 106 cadets, including 12 female passed out in the 43rd batch of the academy.
The adviser distributed medals among the cadets as recognition of their success. Cadet Mohammad Ahsan Ul Anwar of the Marine Fisheries Department was awarded the “Best All-Rounder Gold Medal” for achieving the highest standards in all subjects among the 43rd batch.

Besides, Cadet Md. Raihan Hossain Majumder from the Nautical Science Department, Cadet Md. Jobair Abdullah from the Marine Engineering Department, and Cadet Mohammad Ahsan Ul Anwar from the Marine Fisheries Department were awarded the “Best in Professional Training Silver Medal” for achieving the highest standards in the three departments.
