Day-long Russian Flag Day was celebrated in Ishwardi with colourful arrangements. Students and Alumni Association of Bangladesh and Friends of Russia organized the event under the auspices of Diego International on Thursday (August 22) at Swapnadwip Resort in Ishwardi.
Student drawing and quiz competitions, prize distribution, discussion meetings and cultural programs are organized. More than five hundred students, teachers and media personnel participated in this event with the support of SAAB and Friends of Russia, Russian House in Dhaka and Russian Embassy in Dhaka.
Speakers at the event said about the Russian flag, the flag of Russia is known as tricolor. Consists of three horizontal stripes: white, blue and red. These colors have deep symbolism. White symbolizes nobility and openness, blue symbolizes trust and honesty and red symbolizes strength and courage. The flag of Russia is a symbol of national unity and pride, which inspires people to great achievements.
The speakers also said that Russia has always been a trusted friend of Bangladesh. The Soviet Union was on the side of the war of independence in 1971. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Bangladesh’s bilateral relations with its successor state, Russia, are ongoing.
CIP engineer Alamgir Jalil, chairman of the Alumni and Friends Association of People’s University of Russia, presided. Former MP of Pabna-4 Constituency and BNP leader Sirajul Islam Sardar, former Minister of Russian Embassy in Dhaka Andrey Starkov, Director of Russian House in Dhaka Pavel Dvoichenkov, Rubleva Uliana of Russian Embassy, Ulab University professor and National Defense College research professor. Ramit Azad, Chairman of Khairul Group of Industry Alhaj Khairul Islam, Resident Medical Officer of Upazila Health Complex Dr. Shafiqul Islam Shamim and others were present as guests.
