Buet VC Prof Satya Prasad resigns

Professor Satya Prasad Majumder has resigned as vice-chancellor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet).
He submitted his resignation letter to both the chancellor of the university and the secretary of the Ministry of Education on Sunday, reports media.
Professor Mohammad Al Amin Siddique, director of the Buet Directorate of Student Welfare (DSW), confirmed the resignation.
In his resignation letter, Professor Majumder said: “I have worked alongside faculty, students, staff, and employees to enhance the university’s education and research and to maintain BUET’s reputation. Due to personal reasons, I am resigning from my position as vice-chancellor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet).”
Professor Satya Prasad, a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, took on the role of vice-chancellor on June 25, 2020, and was reappointed for a second term on July 3.
He has been compelled to step down following a change in power after the mass upheaval and in response to student demands.
