BAUET seminar on ‘legal aid at govt expense’

A seminar on providing legal assistance at government expense was held at Skylight Hall on the initiative of Law and Judiciary Department of Bangladesh Army University of Engineering and Technology (BAUET) in Kadirabad cantonment area of Natore last Wednesday afternoon. The seminar was presided over by Vice-Chancellor of BAUET Brigadier General Md. Mijanuzzaman, Senior District and Sessions Judge of Natore and Chairman of District Legal Aid Committee Mr Amlan Kusum Jislu was present as the chief guest. Tasmina Nusrat, a 9th batch student of Law and Judiciary Department conducted the program.
Dean of Law Faculty and Head of Department of Law and Justice Prof Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam delivered the welcome speech. Joint District and Sessions Judge Md. Shamsul Al-Amin, District Legal Aid Officer (Senior Assistant Judge) Ismat Ara Tushi, Assistant Judge Fatima Tuz Johura were present as speakers in the seminar.
Deans of various faculties of BAUET, Heads of Departments, Deputy Registrar Admin, Student Welfare Advisers, Proctors, invited guests and students of Law and Judiciary Department were also present on the occasion.
The speakers shed light on the various activities of Natore District Legal Aid Office and the role of District Legal Aid Office in providing free legal aid. The President of the seminar Vice-Chancellor gave crest to the invited guests and gave away the prizes to the students of the quiz competition.
