In a shocking turn of events, authorities have apprehended 17 individuals, including high-ranking officials and a driver affiliated with the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC), following allegations of question paper leaks for crucial government job recruitment exams.
The arrests, made across various locations including Dhaka, were prompted by a damning investigative report aired by a private television channel.
Among those detained are Abed Ali, the driver for the BPSC chairman, and his son Syed Sohanur Rahman Siam, who holds the position of Relief and Disaster Management Secretary at the Bangladesh Chhatra League’s Dhaka North unit.
Confirming the arrests, sources at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters disclosed that the detained individuals include Deputy Directors Abu Zafar and Jahangir Alam, as well as Assistant Directors SM Alamgir Kabir and Nikhil Chandra Roy. Additionally, Syed Abed Ali Jibon, a former driver for the BPSC chairman, and Office Assistant Khalilur Rahman were also among those implicated in the scandal.
According to the investigative report, the syndicate involving these PSC officials and employees has allegedly been involved in the illicit practice of leaking examination questions over an extended period.
Of particular note is Syed Abed Ali alias Jibon, whose reported significant wealth despite his former role as a chauffeur has raised eyebrows and sparked further scrutiny.
