Farmer beaten to death by opponents

Abdul Hakim Jomaddar (60), son of one Ayub Ali Jomaddar of village Guatala within Nishanbaia Union under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district was allegedly beaten to death by the opponents over a disputed plot of land on Friday morning. At that time some 7 others were injured. They are Harun Jomaddar (50), Latif Jomaddar (55). Rashid Jomaddar (42), Alam Hawladar (70), Lyton Hawladar (45), Jamila Begum (50) and Mehedi Hawladar (59).
It is learnt from the family members of the deceased that following the prevailing enmity between the 2 rival families over a disputed land property on Friday early in the morning at 7 am some 10/12 armed persons led by the opponent Shahidul Hawladar of the same village attacked abdul Hakim Jomaddar. As a result, he was injured and while he was being taken to the Hospital for his treatment. But on the way to the Hospital the miscreants once again attacked injured Abdul Hakim Jomaddar with lethal and other weapons and left him on the road fatally injured. Then he was rushed to Morrelganj Upazila Health Complex where the physician on duty declared him dead.
AKM Shamsuddin, Officer-in-charge, Morrelganj PS. Visited the place of occurrence and told from there, one persons was killed on the spot and some others were injured. Police brought the situation under control. Police are already started an operation to arrest the killers of the Abdul Hakim Jomaddar.
In this connection Harun Jomaddar, brother of late Abdul Hakim Jomaddar lodged a case with Morrelganj PS against as many as 41 persons at the night and some 5 accused persons were arrested till the writing of this report.
