Fire at passenger bus in Banani

A running passenger bus caught fire suddenly in Banani area of the capital on Saturday afternoon.
Khaleda Yasmin, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence Control Room, said, “A bus in front of Army Stadium caught fire at around 4pm.”

On information, two units of firefighters rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control around 4:15pm.
No casualties, however, were reported in the incident, she said adding that the reason behind the fire could not be known instantly.

“The bus pulled the motorcycle some ways. It might be that the bus caught fire due to the motorcycle’s tank exploding underneath,” he said.

Being informed, two firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the flame at around 4:37 pm, the Station Officer added.

Two riders of the motorcycle were injured in the incident. They are undergoing treatment at nearby Kurmitola General Hospital.
