A hub for innovation, business expansion

The Canton Fair, held on the banks of the Pearl River in Guangzhou, China, serves as a pivotal gathering for local and international manufacturers and buyers aiming to explore a plethora of business ideas and innovations.
This fair, renowned for its vast array of products ranging from robotics and agricultural inputs to electronics and electrical gadgets, hosts thousands of stalls bustling with activity. Buyers meticulously search for cutting-edge products, while manufacturers eagerly address queries to bolster their sales.
A seasoned attendee, Abbas from Dubai, expressed his enthusiasm for the fair, noting its role in discovering the latest electronic gadgets to enhance his business operations. “I have been attending this fair for the third time. This is a great opportunity for me to find out the latest innovation in the field of electronics products and also get some fresh ideas here to expand my businesses,” he commented during an interview with the New Nation.
Similarly, M Motalib Hossain from Bangladesh, found the fair a comprehensive platform to acquire new cameras and electronic gadgets. “I can get all the products here under one platform. Every year I come here to buy new products which the consumers always look for in my country. I think buyers should come here to get new products at the prices of their choices,” he said.
M Khorshed Alam, who runs a furniture trading business in China, highlighted the fair’s business-friendly environment fostered by supportive Chinese government policies. “I have a furniture business here. I have buyers in the Middle East. I supply my products as per the demands of the buyers,” he remarked.
Another buyer, Ershad from Kerala, India, praised the fair for its wide selection and competitive pricing of electronic items. “Many products are available here. I can choose products at my will. I can compare the prices of electronic items easily. This is really a great place,” he told the New Nation.
Innovative technology was also a highlight at the fair, demonstrated by Gu Yue, who showcased a bionic hand manufactured by his company BrainCo. Despite losing his left wrist, Gu Yue’s use of the bionic hand, which mimics human hand behavior with rapid responses, exemplifies significant advancements in bionic organs aimed at improving the lives of people with disabilities.
The fair also focused on sustainable technologies, such as new battery-operated vehicles designed to reduce carbon emissions—a key initiative by the Chinese government towards environmental sustainability. Many motor vehicle manufacturers at the fair are transitioning to electric vehicles to meet both domestic and global demands amid rising concerns over carbon emissions.
The 135th episode of the Canton Fair, which opened on April 15 and will continue until May 5, is organized in three phases. This year’s theme emphasizes high-quality development and advancing high-level opening up, with 29,000 exhibitors—28,600 from Chinese pavilions and 680 from international pavilions—spreading across 74,000 booths. The organizers of the Canton Fair invite manufacturers and buyers to utilize this platform as a bridge between markets, promising vast opportunities for growth and collaboration.
