How far will Mominul go?

Mominul Haque is the only batter of Bangladesh Cricket team who scored two half-centuries against Sri Lanka in the two-Test series, which concluded recently. Most of the batters of Bangladesh failed to shine with the willow against Sri Lanka. But ace batter Mominul Haque altogether scored 175 runs. He scored five runs in the first innings of the first Test against Sri Lanka at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium and remained undefeated with 87 runs in the second innings. Mominul scored 33 runs in the first innings of the second Test against Sri Lanka at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram and notched up 50 runs in the second innings.
Mominul Haque recorded his name in the 4000-run land-mark in Test cricket through Chattogram Test. Mominul Haque scored 4058 runs playing 61 Test matches. The left-arm batter is now 32 years old. It may be mentioned that dashing opener Tamim Iqbal scored 5134 runs playing 70 Test matches, while Mushfiqur Rahim scored 5676 runs playing 88 Test matches. Besides, ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan scored 4505 runs playing 67 Test matches. Mominul Haque is the fourth Bangladesh batter who scored above 4000-run in Test cricket. There is every chance for Mominul Haque to cross the other three Bangladesh cricketers.
When asked after reaching the 4000-run land-mark, Mominul Haque said, ” I didn’t think about crossing 4000-run land-mark. I knew my achievement after watching the giant screen.”
Mominul Haque did not take part in ODI matches and also in T20I matches. So, the 32-year-old left-arm batter have every chance to play 100 Test matches for Bangladesh.
Mominul said, ” Bangladesh could not play so many Test matches in every year. There are eight Test matches in this year, while there are five Test matches next year. I don’t know how many Test matches will be held after that year for Bangladesh. I don’t know that I can play 100 Test matches for Bangladesh.”
He said, ” My target is to bring Bangladesh’s Test cricket to go to forward. We want to play farther step in Test cricket. It is not my personal aim.”
” All the Test matches are challenging. There is advantage to play against stronger side. When we shall know that our opponent team are stronger, we will be careful about every side. And that time we have to play better brand of cricket”, he added.
