In the last fiscal year 2023-2024, the police traffic department of Gazipur district conducted raids in various areas in 10 thousand 2 hundred 92 cases and got a revenue of Tk 5 crore 12 lakh 2 thousand 750 as fine.
On Wednesday (March 3), Gazipur District Traffic Office informed this information.
According to Gazipur District Traffic Police Office, 10 thousand 292 cases have been filed against various vehicles in the district from January to December last year in implementation of Road Transport Act. About 5 crore 12 lakh 2 thousand 750 taka have been fined in these cases. And this money has been deposited in the government treasury.
It is also known that these revenues have come from various cases of irregularities including not having vehicle fitness, not having a motorcycle helmet, not having a driving license and registration, carrying three passengers on a motorcycle, not having a route permit, and disobeying traffic signals and restrictions.
Gazipur District Traffic Division Additional Superintendent of Police Nazmul Saqib Khan (PPM) said that Chandra, Pallividyut, Safipur Bazar, Mouchak Ambagan Crossing, Mouchak Bus Stand, Saheb Bazar, Mauna Chowrasta, Mauna to Jainabazar, Hotapara, Kaliganj Kapasia Mor, Kapasia Bazar Pabur of Gazipur district. Vehicle documents are being checked by setting up checkposts at various important areas including junctions. Also, the district traffic police is taking action against them for breaking various laws. This police officer also said that this campaign will continue to implement the traffic law. Common people say that if there is such activity of the police, road accidents will be reduced. Awareness will also increase among people. Besides, the government will not lose revenue.
Gazipur District Traffic Department TI (Administration) Muhammad Shahabuddin said that under the guidance of Gazipur Superintendent of Police Kazi Shafiqul Alam, BPM (Bar) sir, we are working on the road to implement the Road Transport Act 2018. We are working to ensure that everyone obeys the road traffic laws on the roads and ensure that vehicles without helmets, driving licenses and fitness are not allowed to ply on the roads. And advise the public along with the vehicles plying on the road to be aware.
