Multi-storey building catches fire in capital’s Hatirpool

Staff Reporter  :
A massive fire has been reported from the first floor of the five-storey Hatirpool Kancha Bazar on Thursday.

On information, seven firefighting units rushed to the spot and working to contain the blaze that broke out at around 6pm, said Ershad Hossain, control room duty officer at Fire Service and Civil Defence.

It is unclear what caused the fire. No casualties have been reported either.

However, members of fire service have rescued four people from the roof of a six-storey building that caught fire near Hatirpool kitchen market.

Dhaka has been seeing rampant fire incidents in recent weeks, including the deadly Bailey Road fire on February 29 that claimed 46 lives.

On March 12, a massive blaze destroyed the Uttara Kancha Bazar.
