5 persons get life imprisonment in Manikganj

The court sentenced five persons to life imprisonment in the case of 44 kg gold smuggling in Manikganj.
On Wednesday (March 13) around 11 o’clock Manikganj District and Sessions Judge Judge Jayashree Samaddar gave this verdict. At this time, each person was also fined fifty thousand taka, and in default of payment, the court sentenced them to one more year of imprisonment.
Those sentenced are – Yahia Amin, Sheikh Aminur Rahman, Md. Moniruzzaman Roni, Sheikh Zahidul Islam and Md. Zahirul Islam Tarek. Their homes are in different villages of Satkhira, Jessore, Munshiganj and Lakshmipur districts respectively.
In the summary of the case, it is known that on the night of October 4, 2018, RAB arrested a group going to Benapole in Tara area of Manikganj Sadar, when they tried to escape, they were arrested.
After that RAB-2 captain JCO Moksed Alam filed a case in Manikganj Sadar Police Station on October 5, 2018. After receiving 15 witnesses in this case, the court gave the sentence in the presence of the accused.
Additional PP Mathun Nath Sarkar, the lawyer for the state in handling the case, expressed satisfaction with the verdict. Nazrul Islam Badsha, the lawyer for the accused, said that he would appeal to the high court for justice.
