Shakib to miss opening round in DPL Cricket

The schedule of the first three rounds of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) Cricket has been announced as the tournament starting on March 11, six teams will take the field on match days.

On the opening day of the tournament, the current champions Abahani Limited will take on the newcomers Partex Sporting Club. On the same day, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, ranked third in the last season, will play at BKSP Ground Number 3 against another newcomer, Gazi Tyres Cricket Academy.

However, star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will not play for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in this match, due to personal reasons, Shakib will also miss the match against Shinepukur in the second round.

“We have reached an agreement with Shakib this time. He will play for Sheikh Jamal throughout the season. However, he may not be available for the first two matches. Still, he will try to play.” Sheikh Jamal’s Team Director Shahneeyaan Tanin said.

The matches of the second round will be on March 14 and 15, and the matches of the third round will be on March 17 and March18.

This season’s league will be held without foreign cricketers. So, all the focus will be on the domestic cricketers.
