Digging pond destroying cropland!

Allegations have been made of illegally digging a pond in Charbhangura Purbpara cropland of Bhangura Union in Bhangura Upazila of Pabna. In view of this, Union Land Development Officer Iqbal (Tahshildar) Hossain has stopped the excavation work after carrying out ground investigation on Saturday.
It is reported that on February 27, two persons named Abed Ali and Sahen Ali from Charbhangura village started digging a pond with a Vacu machine in the cropland. For this reason, Humayun Farid Khan and Mozaharul Islam, the owners of the adjacent crop land, complained to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer.
Humayun Farid Khan said, digging ponds in crop land is completely illegal. Besides, his own land is under threat due to excavation work without keeping the bank of the pond. For this reason, he sought the intervention of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer.
