JL leader nabbed over snatching drug dealers from police

The elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a Jubo League (JL) leader named Sagar Madbar (35) in the capital in connection with the attack on the police in Shariatpur’s Jazira and the snatching of two drug dealers.
The accused Sagar Madbar was arrested from city’s Uttara area on Friday night.
Sagar Madbar is the son of one Kuddus Madbar of Tekerkandi area of Bara Gopalpur Union of Jazira Upazila. He is the President of Baro Gopalpur Union Jubo League.
Eight cases including fighting and attempted murder are pending against him with the police station.
OC Hafizur Rahman of Jazeera police station confirmed this information on Saturday (March 2) afternoon. According to locals and RAB sources, on Wednesday night, the police arrested Arif Madbar and Sabuj Madbar along with half a kg of hemp in the Suryamani market of Baro Gopalpur union of the upazila.
On information, Union Jubo League president Sagar Madbar and his supporters rushed to the spot and attacked the police shouting that they were robbers and snatched away the accused persons along with drugs.
The next day, on Thursday afternoon, Deputy Assistant Inspector of Police Belal Hossain filed a case naming seven people including Sagar Madbar as the plaintiff. After this incident, Jubo League leader Sagar Madbar flees away.
Later, elite force RAB arrested him on Friday based on secret information.
Two more accused have been arrested in this incident. The operation to nab the rest continues, the police officials said.
