Boi Mela turns into a sea of book-lovers

The Amar Ekushey Book Fair on Friday got momentum as it was swarming with thousands of visitors including children.
As yesterday was the public holiday, long queues were seen in the street outside the fair premises. The females with their kids waited patiently.
Many people crowded into the Suhrawardy Uddyan, the expanded part of the fair.
Shahbagh Thana Officer-in-Charge Sirajul Islam said they have taken all out security to thwart any unexpected occurrence. We are ready to meet emergency.
Nipa Akhter, a student of Jagannath University, said, “I fell well. It was my expected day. I bought seven books from different stalls. My friends also purchase books. I will come to the fair again.”
Bahalul Haque Chowdhury, a banker, who comes from Gulshan told The New Nation, “I have come with my family members. This day is more attractive than other days of the week. This is also public holiday. I am used to come to the fair at least thrice a week. We bought many books including children’s. Usually I buy books from the fair because the quality of the books is more reliable.”
Meanwhile, the publishers expressed their satisfaction at the sales. They said that they were disappointed in the first three days of the fair. But they are now hopeful.
Osman Gani, the owner of Agami Prokashoni felicitated the decision to expand fair venue as the wise. The fair got momentum yesterday because the visitors had no extra pressure. The selling of books was excellent.
One hundred and seventy-three new books arrived at the Amar Ekushey Book Fair on the seventh day of the fair. Of them, 22 were story books, 31 novels, 11 essay books, 32 poems, three research, seven children literature, seven biography, six on Liberation War, two Drama, one science fiction, nine travel, four history, two on politics, one on health, two on computer, 10 on religious, two on translation and four on other subjects.
