Amar Ekushey observed with due respect in various dists

People from all walks of life on Wednesday observed Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day-2024 in a befitting manner in various districts of Bangladesh.
To mark the day, all government administrations, socio-cultural, political and professional bodies and educational institutions organised different programmes.
Gouripur Correspondent adds, Amar Ekushey and the International Mother Language Day-2024 was observed in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district in a befitting manner, paying rich tributes to the language martyrs on Wednesday, 21 February 2024.
People from all walks of life placed floral wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar of Shahid Harun Park in the middle town and elsewhere in the upazila, recalling the supreme sacrifice made by the language heroes, who laid down their lives for the mother tongue ‘Bangla’.
The beginning of Amar Ekushey, the Language Martyrs’ Day started at one minute-past zero hours of midnight. Nilufar Anjum Popi MP, Upazila Chairman Mofazzal Hossain khan, Mayor Syed Rafiqul Islam as well as councilors of Gouripur Pourashava and other officials of the upazila administration and the police department placed floral wreaths, members of Gouripur Press Cub, Bangladesh Press Cub (Gouripur upazila branch), Gouripur Reporters Club, Banglsdesh Mafashal Sangbadik Forum local political leaders, freedom fighters and students of different educational institutions placed floral wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar of the upazila town.
Baraigram correspondent adds, Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day was celebrated with due dignity in Baraigram Upazila of Natore.
On this occasion, wreath laying, doa mahfil, poetry recitation, painting competition, cultural program, discussion meeting and prize distribution were organized on Thursday at the upazila auditoriukm by the initiative of the upazila administration.
The discussion meeting was presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Abu Rasel and moderated by Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer Md. Habiba Khatun.
Member of Parliament of Natore-4 (Gurdaspur-Baraigram) parliamentary constituency Alhaj Dr.Md. Siddiqur Rahman Patwari was present as the chief guest in the meeting..
Bonpara Pouro Mayor KM Zakir Hossain, Baraigram police station officer in charge Md. Shafiul Azam Khan, Upazila Agriculture Officer Sharmin Sultana, former joint secretary of upazila Awami League Md. Moazzem Hossain Bablu and freedom fighter Abu Khair were special guests. Khulna Correspondent adds, Divisional commissioner, Khulna Metropolitan police commissioner, deputy inspector general (DIG) of Khulna Range Police, Khulna police super placed wreaths to show respect to the languages heroes.
Deputy commissioner Khondokar Yasir Arefin along with officials of the district and upazila administrations also paid homage to the languages martyrs by laying wreath followed by other government and non-government departments and organisations.
