DIU holds Career Talk on English for Journalism

A career talk highlighting the importance of “English for Journalism” was held at Kabi Nazrul Eduplex of Daffodil International University (DIU) at its Birulia permanent campus on Thursday. The Career Development Center(CDC) of DIU and the Department of Journalism, Media and Communication jointly organized the session with Director of CDC Dr. Tanvir Abir in the chair.
The keynote speaker of the session was Farrukh Khosru, Assistant Editor, The New Nation. Head of the Department of JMC Aftab Hossain moderated the session. Dean of Social Science Dr. Liza Sharmin was also present among the guests.
Farrukh Khosru said that journalism is indeed a diverse sector to work in. It is all about telling people the facts. Journalists must be honest with their job, and report exactly what they see.
He also said for journalism, English is a must. So, the freshers who are studying must be careful about this.
To the learners, he said “English is a must wherever you work today. Journalism students indeed play a crucial role to lead the nation properly.”
About 50 students of the Department of JMC and 4 Student Associates of CDC were also present there.
The event ended with a questions and answering session where the students directly shared their ideas, thoughts and their queirs with the speakers.
