EC seeks info over breach of poll code

The Election Commission (EC) has asked to send information over the breach election code of conduct particularly whether any magistrate punished any candidates or people during the recent election duty.

The EC asked the all returning officer, senior zilla nirbachan and zilla nirbachan officers to send the documents.

On Tuesday, EC’s manpower department deputy secretary Khorshed Alam issued a letter on the issue.

According to the letter, if any candidate or person has been sentenced to imprisonment under Rule 18 (1) of the “Political Parties and Candidates Conduct Rules in Parliamentary Elections, 2008” by the Executive Magistrate responsible for enforcement of the Code of Conduct in the 12th National Assembly Elections, the information shall be sent to the personnel by January 17.
