All set to extract honey produced thru’ pollination of mustard flowers

In Mirzapur, Tangail, with the help and advice of the Department of Agriculture, a major campaign is underway to extract honey worth crores of taka through pollination in mustard fields across the horizon. This honey extraction is going on next to the field with the full cooperation of the agriculture department. Nature lovers are also flocking to admire the yellow hue of mustard blossoms across the horizon and the sight of honey gathering around the mustard fields. Bees rush to smell the yellow flowers of mustard and take the juice from the flowers. Beekeepers are collecting honey with bees. Ignoring the cold and thick fog in Konkan, the beekeepers from different areas are sitting in cages (bakra) next to the mustard fields and collecting honey through bees. Going to some areas of Mirzapur Upazila, it was seen that the Mauals from different areas are busy cultivating turmeric and honey in the mustard fields across the horizon.
On Wednesday (January 17), Mirzapur Upazila Agriculture Office sources said that this year the target of mustard cultivation was set on 14 thousand 800 hectares of land, but due to favorable weather conditions, 14 thousand 900 hectares of land were produced. Due to the recession of the 20th century, oil prices have increased across the country. Farmers in the area have been advised to cultivate more mustard on fallow land to meet the demand for oil. On the advice of the Agriculture Department, the cultivation of mustard in fallow land in Mirzapur Upazila has been very satisfactory this year. Mustard includes Tori, Maghi and Bari 14 and 17 varieties. During the winter season, the mustard fruit festival prevails across the horizon of Mirzapur upazila. As far as the eyes go, only the yellow color of mustard flowers touches the mind. Nature lovers flock to the mustard fields across the horizon in the morning, noon and afternoon to smell the yellow sweet smell of mustard flowers. Agriculture department officials said that mustard is not only used as oil, but young leaves of mustard are used as vegetables and stalks are used as fuel. Agriculture department officials also said that around 25,000 goats have been planted to collect honey around the mustard seeds. About 5-8 kg of honey can be collected per cow. According to them, about one crore rupees worth of honey can be collected. Mouals (Bee cultivators) from different districts including Sirajganj, Satkhira, Bogra, Jamalpur, Faridpur are collecting this honey.
Meanwhile, the beekeepers from different areas around the mustard field are collecting honey through bees by setting up cages (Bakra) for pollination.
