Dense fog disrupts ferry service for 100 hours in Aricha

Due to dense fog, ferry and launch services are stopped for 8 hours on Aricha, Paturia waterways. Due to this, ferries, launches, boats and cargo movement were stopped for 100 hours for 34 days from last December 9. The continued bone-chilling winter and fog have disrupted public life. Low and daily income people are suffering a lot.
Meanwhile, people of different ages including women and children are suffering from cold, cough, fever, dysentery and diarrhea due to the effect of thick fog and winter.
The face of the sun is seen in the middle of the day. Dense fog is causing damage to various cultivated crops including mustard, kalai.
It is known that during the current season due to dense fog, the passengers are suffering due to the closure of Aricha-Kazirhat, Paturia-Daulatdia route at around 9/10 pm. Suffering reached its peak as ferries got stuck in Padma, Yamuna chest.
Besides, the cargo leaving from Chittagong, Narayanganj, Mongla, Mawa is blocked from reaching the destination. Due to the delay in reaching the ports of Kazirhat, Baghabari, Nagarbari, Enayetpur, Balashi, Chilmari etc. due to heavy fog, the owners and contractors have to bear the financial loss due to the delay in the supply of goods.
