Samanta Lal Sen

Samanta Lal Sen, a technocrat minister, has been appointed as the Minister of Health and Family Welfare in the new cabinet.

He has replaced Jahid Maleque, the outgoing Health Minister.Before getting the portfolio, Prof Sen has been serving as the Coordinator of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute.

After completing his MBBS in 1975, Samanta Lal Sen began his professional journey in Baniachang, Habiganj.

He later moved to Dhaka and joined Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. In 1980, he became a part of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Under the leadership of Dr. Mohammad Shahidullah, Bangladesh’s first Burn Unit was initiated in Dhaka Medical College in 1986, where Samanta played a crucial role.
