Adam Tamizi denied bail in defamation case

A Dhaka court on Wednesday rejected the bail petition in the defamation case filed against Adam Tamizi Haque, managing director of Haque Group of Industries, under the Digital Security Act.

Simultaneously, the court also asked the authorities to explain why Adam Tamizi Haque was not produced in court even after 15-20 days of arrest, reports media.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arfatul Rakib court gave the order after the hearing on Wednesday afternoon.

On this day, lawyer Abdullah Al Mamun asked for bail on behalf of Adam Tamizi Haque.

During the hearing, lawyer Abdullah Al Mamun, representing Adam Tamizi Haque, requested bail on behalf of his client, citing Tamizi’s mental health issues.

According to Mamun, Tamizi, who is undergoing treatment at the Beacon Point Drug Addiction Treatment Centre, was arrested on December 11, 2023. Due to his deteriorating mental condition, he has been kept under treatment with the supervision of law enforcement.
