Bangladesh signs Hajj deal with KSA: HC rule over legality of Hajj package

Bangladesh signed bilateral Hajj Agreement 2024 with the Royal Saudi Government on Monday at Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.

Deputy Minister of Saudi Hajj and Umrah Ministry Abdul Fattah bin Sulaiman Mashat was present on behalf of Saudi Arabia government, while Religious Affairs Ministry’s Secretary M A Hamid Jamaddar led the Bangladesh team.

Among others, President of Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB) M. Shahadat Hossain Taslim, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Hajj) Motiul Islam, Director (Hajj Office) Saiful Islam, Counselor (Hajj) in Jeddah Zahirul Islam and Consul (Hajj) in Jeddah Aslam Uddin were present during the meeting.

However, as per agreement, a total of 1, 27,198 Bangladeshis will get the opportunity to perform Hajj this year.Various issues were discussed in the meeting for the sake of fair and welfare of the Bangladeshi pilgrims.

The HAAB President requested the Saudi Deputy Minister to maintain all the agencies like the previous years without reducing the number of Hajj agencies.

If the number of agencies is kept as before without reducing the number of Hajj pilgrims, it will be convenient to provide services to the Hajj pilgrims including elderly Bangladeshis, the HAAB president requested the Saudi Deputy Minister to reconsider the matter.

However, the Saudi Deputy Minister listened to the matter patiently and assured HAAB president to consider the matter.

Besides, the HAAB president also requested the Saudi authority for the development of Hajj pilgrims’ luggage transportation and tent management in Arafat and Mina and handover tents to Hajj agencies before 10 days of Hajj.
