Rivalry among AL leaders of Manikganj surrounding polls peaks
Manikganj Correspondent :
In the Manikganj-1 (Shibalaya, Ghior, Daulatpur) seat, Jatiya Party-Japa candidate presidium member joint general secretary Zahirul Alam Rubel is contesting in Manikganj-1 (Shibalaya, Ghior, Daulatpur) constituency. However, Bangladesh Nationalist Movement-BNM candidate Haji Monayem Khan and GanafonteerMdShahjahan Khan are in the field with anchor and fish symbols respectively.
It is known that due to Jatiya Party’s agreement with the ruling Awami League on 26 seats, the candidate for the boat symbol, District A-League General Secretary Abdus Salam, withdrew the PP and the counting of votes was changed. Most of the leaders and activists of the A-League are involved in the campaign of the plow symbol.
On the other hand, Salahuddin Mahmud, who failed to get party nomination of A-League after trying twice, many leaders and activists took his side when he became an independent candidate. In this, divided A-League leaders-workers and Jatiya Party workers-supporters are in the field with the plow symbol, but the Grand Alliance candidate is under pressure for various reasons. Although ZahirulAlam’s home is outside the constituency and as a last-minute candidate, he is less known among the voters. The organizational strength of his own party, Jatiya Party, is relatively low in voter-support. As a result, we have to depend on the direction and votes of the leaders and activists of the League and allied organizations. But under the central guidance of the A-League, the polling ground has become heated due to the continuation of meetings, rallies, marches, showdowns etc. at the district-upzilla, union-ward level.
