Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team lost to South Africa (SA) Women’s Cricket team by 216 runs in the third One Day International (ODI) cricket match at the Willowmoore Park in Benoni of South Africa on Saturday night. By virtue of Saturday’s victory, South Africa Women’s Cricket team clinched the ODI series 2-1.
Electing to bat first, South Africa piled up a mammoth total of 316 for the loss of four wickets in the stipulated 50 overs and then all out Bangladesh for 100 off 31.1 overs.
South Africa had a formidable start as the two openers Laura Wolvaardt and Tanzim Brits put on together 243 runs in the opening stand before Laura was bowled out by Marufa Akter.
Laura hit a terrific 126. Her 134-ball innings was laced with 13 fours and one sixes.
After Laura’s departure, Tanzim Brits could not stay at the crease for a long period as Brits was Stumped out by Nigar Sultana off Ritu Moni when South Africa’s total was 251 for the loss of two wickets.
Brits notched up a marvelous 118. She hit eight fours and two sixes in her 124-ball knock. Brits was adjudged the Player of the Match for her outstanding batting display.
One-down Anneka Bosch and second-down Sune Luus adding together 47 runs for the their wicket partnership before Luus was trapped leg before wicket by Rabeya Khan when South Africa’s score was 298 for the loss of three wickets.
Luus made 34 from 17 balls featuring six fours.
Bosch remained unbeaten with 28 runs. Her 19-ball innings had two fours and a sixer.
Third-down Nadine de Klerk (0) was trapped leg before wicket by Rabeya Khan when South Africa’s total was 298 for the loss of four wickets.
Rabeya Khan bagged two wickets in the space of 49 runs, while Marufa Akter and Ritu Moni got one wicket each conceding 35 and 39 runs respectively.
Later, third-down Fahima Khatun and fourth-down Ritu Moni fought back making a notable partnership. They scored together 36 runs in the fifth wicket stand before Fahima Khatun (15) was trapped leg before wicket by Eliz-mari Marx when Bangladesh’s total was 64 for the loss of five wickets.
Ritu Moni hit a sedate 33. Her 67-ball innings had four fours.
Nadina de Klerk and Ayabonga Khaka grabbed three wickets each instead of 10 and 15 runs, while Marizanne Kaap bagged two wickets giving 21 runs. Marx took one wicket for six runs.
