Ishwardi passengers suffer from faulty train compartments
Ishwardi (Pabna) Correspondent :
Intercity Rupsa and Frontier Express trains of Lakkar-Jhakkar on Chilahati-Ishwardi-Khulna route in Pakshi section of Western Railway are running with old coaches. There are often mechanical errors on the way. The train is stopped and repaired at the station often. In this situation, the Rupsa and Shimant Express trains on the route from Khulna to Chilahati and Chilahati to Khulna are running with about 6 hours late. As there is no remedy, passengers travel in an unbearable suffering.
Rupsa Express (Up) bound for Chilahati at Ishwardi Junction is scheduled at 11:20 am. On December 3, repair work was done under the compartment of Rupsa Express when the train stopped at Ishwardi Junction Train Testing Laboratory (TXR) and it needed for about 50 minutes for testing and repairing train carriage wheel, toolbox, buffer, back, air cylinder, springing, switchboard and hosepipe. Later the train left for Chilahati around 2 pm.
The same is the case with Up and Down Border Express plying between Khulna and Chilahati. Border Express has been plying over Ishwardi Junction with a delay of one to five and a half hours since quite some time. The coach of the train had to be repaired from station to station on the way. The coaches are quite old and dilapidated.
A few railway employees said on condition of anonymity that Rupsa and Shimand Express trains have to be repaired every day. Due to which the train is running late. As the bogies are old, various defects are appearing. Not only the problem of the compartment, the fan, light and washroom inside the compartment are also in poor condition.
Train Checker (TXR) of Ishwardi Junction Anwar Hossain said that the coaches of Rupsa Express train are very old. During the train movement, some machines are malfunctioning. Especially in the lower part of the coach there are frequent problems. So on arrival at the station, repairs are made if necessary.
Station master Mahbooba Shahinoor said, ‘The train needs regular repair – everyone knows it. I can’t say anything about it. The engineering department can say it well.
Pakshi Divisional Machine Engineer (Carriage) Mumtazul Islam said, this is a long-standing problem. We are also much stressed. There are plans to connect new coaches in some trains including Rupsa and Shimand Express this month.
