BNP leaders Nirob, Majnu, 45 others imprisoned in 3 separate cases

A Dhaka court yesterday sentenced 47 BNP leaders and activists, including former Jubo Dal President Saiful Alam Nirob and Dhaka South City BNP Member Secretary Rafiqul Alam Majnu, to different prison terms in three separate cases filed in the capital’s police stations.

Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mosharraf Hossain of Dhaka delivered the verdicts on Thursday.

Of the 47 BNP men, 14 including Nirob, were awarded a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence in a sabotage case of Tejgaon Model Police Station filed in 2013.

Thirteen, including Majnu, were sentenced to two and a half years’ in the prison in a sabotage case of Shahjahanpur Police Station filed in 2018.

Twenty were given a one-and-nine-months’ prison sentence in another case filed with Banani Police Station in 2018 for subversive activities.
