Bangladesh U-19 beat Lanka in U-19 Asia Cup

A superb century by Ashiqur Rahman powered Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket team to record a resounding six-wicket win over Sri Lanka Under-19 Cricket team at Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under-19 Asia Cup at ICC Academy Ground in Dubai of the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday.
Ashiqur Rahman remained unbeaten with 116. His 130-ball innings was ornamented with 11 fours and two sixes.
Chasing Sri Lanka’s paltry total of 199 for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 50 overs, Bangladesh sailed home making 204 for the loss of four wickets when they had 55 balls to spare.
Bangladesh became the Group-B champions gaining maximum six points from three matches, while Sri Lanka earned two points from as many matches.
Bangladesh had a sorrow start as opener Jishan Alam (0) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Shanmuganathan off Garuka Sanketh when Bangladesh’s score was just one.
Opener Ashiqur Rahman and Chowdhury Md Rizwan salvaged their team from debacle contributing together 74 runs for the second wicket partnership before Chowdhury Md Rizwan was caught & bowled by Vishwa Lahiru when Bangladesh’s total was 75 for the loss of two wickets.
Chowdhury Md Rizwan hit a polished 32. His 39-ball innings was belted with two fours and a sixer.
