Police nabs wives in absence of BNP leaders: Rizvi

The main opposition party BNP on Wednesday accused the police of detaining wives while they do not found the BNP leaders in their houses.

“Borsha and Nuree, two children are crying in their homes asking free their mother from custody as police detained her for not getting the kids father a BNP leader,” BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said it in a virtual press briefing.

Rizvi alleged such actions of the police are going on now widely across the country.

“The houses of the BNP leaders and activists have become homes of mourning.

Their family members are now crying every moment due to ruling party men’s attacks and police actions against them,” Rizvi said.

He alleged that ruling Awami League’s student wing Chhatra League men attacked Chhatra Dal former central President Fazlur Rahman Khokon and made him injured seriously and then handed over him to the police on his way of his Hatirjheel home.

“The law enforcement agencies and armed AL caders are now become a same forces. Their lone agenda is to implement Sheikh Hasina’s anger,” Rizvi said.

“In another incident, police has arrested BNP leader Abdul Haye’s three sons. Among those, one son got 10 years imprisonment.

The wife of another son has been detained while seeing him absent in home.

Then that wife has been taken to three days police remand,” Rizvi said. Such incidents would be large as these are continuing for long days.

The BNP leader urged the countrymen to join the ongoing agitation to make the countrywide blockades and hartal a success for ousting Sheikh Hasina government for restoring democracy in the country.
