3 hurt as bus catches fire on Bangabandhu Expressway toll plaza

Three people were injured as a passenger bus caught fire in front of the Dhaleswari toll plaza on the Bangabandhu Expressway in Munshiganj on Friday afternoon.
One of the injured has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Witnesses said that the bus was travelling from Dhaka to Kuakata in Patuakhali. Around 12:30pm, the bus suddenly caught fire on lane number 7 of Dhaleswari toll plaza.
The fire spread quickly and soon the bus was engulfed in smoke. Then the bus passengers hurriedly got down from the bus.
On receiving the information, a team of Sirajdikhan fire service rushed to the spot and brought the bus fire under control.
Three people were burnt in this incident. Another one of them has reportedly been sent to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn & Plastic Surgery for better treatment.
Badal Rahman, in charge of Sirajdikhan fire service, said that they reached the spot and brought the fire under control within 20 minutes.
Munshiganj Roads and Highways Department Executive Engineer Nahin Reza said that the bus caught fire due to a mechanical fault. The identity of the injured was not yet found.
